Configuration onSite

Some ideas I applied when set up trajectory of configuration on site
-blend pedestrian along Hudson river into building/ Blending edges
-intersecting trajectory in order to create share program
-varies scales allow different type of program
-multiple levels
- open- enclose-semi - spaces
-blending softscape and hardscape

component...

Component 01

Component is created based on the aggregation of initial cell in different order, orientation. The cell unit has ability of rotation in x,y,z direction that allow various connection between unit. By changing behavior of each unit via transformation of void and solid, it started to able to distinguish characteristic of member among the system.

unit-revised...

 Concept developed

In this unit, I want to explore on how surface stretched, squeezed, slide, overlapped, switched adjacency relationship that influence on generating mass and volume of the form.

There is a stage of deteriorated process in which the initial cell is being split apart while boundary still maintain. That stage is the one in between fresh and decay, young and old. The deterioration process is performed via transformation of internal part via exchange/negotiate method between void and solid. During the cell split process, it reveal room and space in between. Sequences of space is creating the network and generate the field condition ultimately.

Component-cont

Started to develop concept idea in level of understand more relationship between part and whole.
Attempted to aggregate unit together, however chains of component is kind of identical.

Component

For the process of creating the component, I set up variables for a single unit in which relationship between members are correlated. As variables value changes, surfaces transformed from separation to combination or reverse that allow experience on various spatial quality. Also, I was attempting to create subdivision of surfaces in order to make hierarchy in term of form and space.
The single unit is generated becoming a component by following equal points on curves. For next step, I want to set up a system of points on curve in which distance between points are controllable that could allow unit scale changed. Unit will be refined in order to explore more potential.

Biological Research (Cont)

I found the research that showed Genetic and Environmental links between Cognitive and Physical Functions in Old Age.

On this ongoing research, it insisted that the reasons for the observable phenotype correlation is a consequences process of genetic correlation and environmental influences. There is a mechanism system involve in the contribution of physical illness to deterioration in cognitive function. At aging process, the body experience changes of physical and cognitive stage. As the age increasing, physical and cognitive function start to deteriorated. There are there elements affect on the deterioration process that are genetics, shared environmental and non-shared environmental (life style choice through out life). Among these , genetics influences are important to measured levels of both cognitive and physical function while environmental influences predominance in explaining change or deterioration in function with increasing age. Cognitive function variables: digit span, recall and fluency and physical function such as ability to do physical activities (ie: movement through out space) are latent variables representing these two constructs. The latent variables is not account for all systematic variance in the individual measured but considered to represent the core, underlying constructs of cognitive function and physical fitness.

Statistic of experimentation done on elderly twin pair:

Model for one twin linking cognitive function and physical fitness. “A” refers to additive genetic influences, “C” to shared environmental influences, and “E” to nonshared environmental influences. The other twin was modeled similarly, and genetic influences on the two were linked 1.0 in monozygotic twins and .5 in dizygotic twins. Shared environmental influences were linked 1.0 in both.

Some key words I got from the research

substantial correlation

underlying construct

Example of phenotype

A phenotype is an organism's observable characteristics or traits: such as its morphology, development, biochemical or physiological properties, behavior, and products of behavior. Phenotypes result from the expression of an organism's genes as well as the influence of environmental factors and the interaction between two

ie: Individuals in the mollusk species Donax Variabilis show diverse coloration and patterning in their phenotypes

biological research [cont]

This research is about Attachment to plant surface waxes by an insect Predator
The report show insects foraging on plant surfaces must attach to a layer call Epicuticular Waxes (EW) that cover the surfaces. EW morpholy can influence the ecology of herbivorous insects directly, and indircctly by affecting attachment by activily foraging predator insects to plant surfaces.

The wax exposed on surface of plant. The morphology of EW various from continuous film to decorated with protruding microscopic crystals: rods, platelets, tubes and complex dendritic structures.

Example of EW:

biological research

I was research on micro organizations and their behaviors. I was looking at an ecology report which showed first microbes survives colonized land by using fat for protection. Microbes need water environment to survive. In this environment, microbes produce fat molecules which call wax ester. The production of wax ester may represent an adaption for surviving dehydration and/or dessication cycles that facilitate bacteria migration. With larger population, they create microbial mats. An behavior of microbial mats can double the amount of wax esters as their hydrated brethren, so they start self-produce molecules. Also, microbial mats can generate water molecules at the same time. Consequences, it may be a procedure of waterproof itself.
This ongoing report showed the potential to look at micro organism to explore natural mechanical system that is represented to generate the ultimate morphology via chains of behavior and mutation.
